final distribution of estate was approved 11/27/12 in San Diego County. What is timeframe for heir to receive funds?

It can depend on the type of assets held by the Estate and also whether the Judge has actually signed the Final written Order. If the Estate is all cash or cash equivalents and the Judge has signed the Order, then the distribution should be made right away. The Court may have even set a date for receiving confirmation of distribution. You might be able to get that information from the Court web site. If you don't receive anything by the middle of this month, you should call the lawyer for the Estate and ask.
