Re: help_last_will

I am very sorry to hear about your step-father's passing. I was very close with my step-father and his passing was a tragedy for me, so I truly offer my heartfelt condolances.

There are a few items that need to be answered before I can realy give you a better response, some are tough questions.

1. Is your mother still alive and were they still married when he passed away?

2. If not, did your step-father remarry?

3. Does your step-father have any children? (with or without your mother)

4. Did he own real property?

5. What state did he reside in when he passed away?

6. What state do you reside in?

Odds are, especially if no will can be found, you are going to need to start a Probate to administer his estate.

As I do not know who is CA and who is in AL, different rules may apply. If you would like to discuss this further in a private forum, please feel free to contact me directly at the email provided by LawGuru or through our firm's website at PasadenaEstatePlanning.com.

Warmest Regards,

Scott Linden
