Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in California

My husband just passed away, his employer released a portion of the commission that was owed to him, bit said they could only release up to $15k initially. What do I need to claim the remaining funds owed to him?

I don't know why they selected the $15,000 number. Often they will not release anything until you can prove you are the legal successor of your Husband. You will need to take action to connvince them you are the party entitled to receive the funds. Depending on your Husbands other assets this may require a probate, or may be able to be resolved with a small estates affidavit or a spousal property petition. . You lilely need counsel to help you, but you might start by asking the Company exactly what they want to relsease the funds to you.
