Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in California

Notification of death, revised will, internent availablity to view

I have an original copy of my friend's will dated 1988. Bequesting for me $1,000.00 and his automobile. I do not know if there has been a revised will. The attorney that had a copy is no longer ''in service''. I was not informed of his death and or proceedings etc. I think he passed away in the summer of 2004. I was told the deceased was liquifying his assets at pawn shops which I find hard to believe. There were some of my items he was storing/holding for me I would like to have back. What am I entitled to? I live in Oregon, and the deceased lived in Los Angeles.

there may be a few things you can do legally in this scenario, however, the associated costs may not be justifiable for you if only $1000 and/or a used vehicle is at issue. naturally, its your decision to make on whether its worth it or not, but the time involved and costs to initiate probate of your friend's estate, especially if you would like attorney representation, could be unjustifiable to say the least. Probate is an option for you nonetheless, especially if you have the original will, and you have valuable or sentimental items that may still be associated with your friend's estate. if you would like further assistance, further possible options or direction, you may contact our law office today.
