Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in California

My parents prepared a will with an attorney. As for personal property ie: guns, furniture, autos, etc. they were to list the items separately and attach to the will. Is this correct?

They would have to create and sign both at the same time or if later they add the list it would have to be by an amendment to the Will, which is easily done.
