If the decedent had already paid the rent for the month that he died, I'm guessing the landlord would let the family have at the very least until the end of the period to remove personal items. If the executor of the estate needs more time to remove items, the estate will have to pay rent to continue to have belongings there. Landlord can remove items under abandonment if they follow all of the necessary procedure.
