Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in California

I am the personal representative of a probate estate. I'm nearing the end of the probate and have filed a petition for final distribution. My question is do I need to wait for the judge to order my commission paid or can I pay myself now? The estate is $250,506.00. I've come this far and I don't want to mess up by doing the wrong thing. Thank you.

You can not pay yourself anything until the judge orders it. You are entitled to the statutory fee set out in the Probate Code but can also ask for additional compensation for extraordinary services.
