Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in California

Probate

My ex-husband just died. Divorced for over 30 years. One child. Estranged - an occasional phone call. At death he had no other family. What, if any, steps do we need to take to take care of business (death certificate handled by Hospice - body cremated)? What about his personal effects, bank account (very little) and debts?

Re: Probate

If the total estate value is under $100,000 (ignoring any liens or encumberances) then you will need to start a Probate proceeding.

If the total aggregate value is under $100K, then you can use the small estate forms that we provide on our firm's website No-Probate.com.

If you would like further assistance or would like to discuss your options further in a more private forum, please feel free to contact me at the email provided by LawGuru, through the site listed above or through our other site located at PasadenaEstatePlanning.com.
