Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in California

I received a letter from the Department of Health Care Services Estate Recovery Unit in California asking me to pay in 60 days. I am not the handler of the estate and have not received any monies that were tied up in court initially because of a trust account created for my mother. The letter even threatens to put a lien on my house. The letter is only addressed to me, even though my brother and sister are supposed to be recipients of money, as well. What can I do now?

You have a problem. You need to contact the estate representative immediately, and I urge you to get an attorney. If you have received any money from the estate, without the Estate Recovery Unit's claims being settled, you could end up with a lien on your property.
