transferring stocks to beneficiary of living trust

MY parents assests were in a living trust, they have

died and I am the sole trustee and beneficiary. How do

I transfer stocks and bonds out of trust into my nam

Any stock broker can help you do that. he will need a copy of the trust and death certificates.

The actual process of transferring the stocks is simple, but before you do that, you need to take the necessary steps in "administering" the trust. There are some notices that have to be sent and some paperwork, but this should be done to close off any creditor/heir claims. Contact an attorney to take care of this--the process is not difficult, and is even less difficult if the only assets are stocks/cash.

If your parents got a large professionally done trust there are instructions in there on how to transfer the stocks. Other wise contact me and I'll tell you how ot do it. And I'll provide you a set of instructions from a professionally prepared trust.

Go to a discount broker (like Schwab), give them a copy of the trust, a tax id number, and death certifs, and they will do it for you. Call your accountant re tax returns.
