Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in California

Will was created but family filed petition stating member died with no will.

My godmother was almost retired and all my life had stated she had a will. Godmother died last year, I sent an inquiry to the county Superior court to inquiry the status of the probate case and the court responded ''no will filed. Petition says she died without a will.'' This is false. Even the sister in law who called the day of her wake stated my godmother left me money and a bracelet. What are my options? What is my next step? How does one politely ask the blood relative ''hey, you said this, now where is it''?

I appreciate your guidance in this delicate situation.

Re: Will was created but family filed petition stating member died with no will.

if the person administering the estate denies the existence of will, your only recourse is to file a response to the petition with the superior court probate department alleging that there was a will and challenging administration based on intestacy.
