Legal Question in Workers Comp in California

I hurt my back, I am waiting on a MRI. In the meantime my boss emailed me (which I kept) and said "Just tell your doctor your okay and want to come back" then 1 week later he called my doctor trying to get info. My doctor refuses to speak with him because of ethics and HIPPA. Is my employer in the wrong for doing these things? I have an attorney and I can't get past his para-legal who deoesn't seem to care. Should I push this issue or is it a non-issue and I should just let it go?
