rights on the job injury

I had an on the job injury that my boss avoided doing paperwork for. A had to do an urgent care visit over the holiday because of doctor closures and was told it was my fault it wasn't handled timely although I did everything I knew to do. I was under the impression I could go to a claims doctor of my choice but am told that I am locked into the urgent care only since 4 days after injury they authorized my treatment there due to emergency nature. Although the urgent care dr. told me I need no release to seek continuing medical attention elsewhere I am being denied any claim.
