Legal Question in Workers Comp in California

I have a workers comp case that has been going on for 2 yrs. I am a plumber both knees injured at work have had 2 surgeries (total knee replacements). In between the first and second surgery I fell in a store on a hanger that had been left on the floor and hurt my knee a little and my back. Now I have a small personal injury case going on also. Someone told me that the personal injury case could somehow affect my workers comp case.. is this true? Could they try to put off a percentage of the compensation for injury from my work injury because of the slip and fall case? Also do many people go pro per for their workers comp cases? Is this considered okay? If I am near the end and my attorney had to close down should I just finish out the case myself? Thank you for your help.

If there is not a final QME or AME report, then if the insurance carrier finds out about your personal injury claim, they will try to argue a substantial apportionment due to the new accident. They may take your deposition again or try to get a supplemental QME or AME report without you knowing how to challenge it.Feel free to call us at 213.388.7070 for a free consultation.
