Legal Question in Criminal Law in Canada

My boyfriend got picked up on a warrant. he was supposed to have a court date back in Februrary. He missed it because he mixed up the dates. He didnt go in and speak to anyone about it, and he is now sitting in jail. He isnt a flight risk by any means, he just made that stupid mistake of not telling anyone he mixed up the dates. But he woudlnt ever run. Does he have any shot of making bail? he has no criminal record... and i have never had to deal with anyone being in jail before and i dont want to visit him there, what are his chances of getting out on bail?

The policies that would govern bail releases will vary across Canada. However, I would think that in most places, a person who missed a court date, who does not have a criminal record, and is facing charges other than the most serious ones, is a good candidate for bail. Your boyfriend might however have to have someone vouch for him, a surety. A surety is a person who promises to pay money in the event there is a default in the bail terms.
