Legal Question in Civil Litigation in Canada

What category of lawyer do I seek

My problem is knowing what "area" of law to look in, in seeking counsel. I seek to take action against someone who, in my view, used litigation to harass and attempt extortion against my family, alleging fraud but knowing we were not involved. Their action has been dismissed. We believe they were simply using multiple law cases to scare us into settlement. In the process, my aged father's medical situation was made much worse. So, what area of legal expertise do I need?

Don't you think you'd be best off with a lawyer who is intelligent and whom you can trust, rather than a narrow specialist?

It's nice to see a message posted in grammatically correct English.
