Water Damage to Carpet
I own a unit in a condo building. There was a flood in the building on March 24, 2004. My unit received the worse damage. A hole was cut in my wall to get to pipes, and approx 300 sq feet of carpet was damaged.
Water stain to carpet and musty smell as carpet was not dried until next day.
Prop Manager only wants to replace underpad and steam clean.
Do I have any legal recourse to get them to replace the carpet in the damaged area (they would have to replace approx 400sq feet of carpet).

As a general rule, you have the right to be put back to the condition you were in prior to the incident. If new underpad and steam cleaning put you back then that is the extent of the legal obligation, otherwise the carpet would need to be replaced.
