Legal Question in Civil Litigation in Colorado

Eviction?

I've had a girlfriend living with me for about two months. She's bipolar and refuses to be on medication. I can't take the moodswings, and we've had a lot of problems, so I've asked her to leave. After talking to a police officer, and being told that she ''has as much right to be here as I do''. I own my house, my name is the one on the mortgage. How can I make her leave before she does something to cause me more problems?

Re: Eviction?

The conservative answer that any lawyer should give is to treat your ex-girlfriend like a tenant and pursue a forcible entry and detainer (eviction) action against her.

As an attorney, I would not advise you to take self help measures, such as moving all of her property out and changing the locks, because you could face potential liability for stolen objects, damaged objects, etc.
