Legal Question in Business Law in Colorado

Dummy corporation?

I'm writing a novel. In it, two men who are business partners form a second, ''dummy'' company in order

to buy up all the land they can in a certain area. They have insider knowledge that they will be able to turn around and resell this land for a profit. What kind of company would they/could they create that will ensure their

anonymity? What would it be called, legally?

2. How would Our Hero be able to find out the people behind the dummy corporation? Where could he go to find out their real identities? Would there be any kind of paper trail, if you knew where to look? What clues could he uncover that would lead him to the two businessmen?

Re: Dummy corporation?

A limited liability company can be filed with the Colorado Secretary of State, but anyone can obtain a copy of the filing if they know where to look, and the filing identifies the members and managers of the LLC, at least at the time of filing.
