Mechanics Lien

Does a notice of intent to file a mechanics lien have to go to the building/land owner or is the personal property owner considered acceptable?

Re: Mechanics Lien

It must go to all the owners of the real property and the general contractor, if a subcontractor is filing. All owners also means to each individual holder so if the property is held in joint tenancy it must go to each tenant. It also must state the exact amount due as allowed under law.

Understand that one mistake in service, amount claimed, timing and other issues may invalidate the lien. If you don't know the law exactly speak with legal counsel.
