The facts of the offense no longer matter as much as the conditions of the sentence. What was the offense of which he was convicted or to which he pleaded guilty? How far did he progress in SO probation? How long has it been since he was properly registered? The statutes on this are very strict. He will be treated as a sex offender (i.e. very harshly). He needs to have a plan in place (among other things, he needs a lawyer) when he is arrested or turns himself in.
