Legal Question in DUI Law in Colorado

DUI Requirments Hold me back from moving out of the country?

I received a DUI about a year ago and was court ordered to follow all there requirments and the DUI will not be put on my record. So I was ordered to community service, probation for 2 years, fines, and alcohol intake evaluation which includes alcohol ed level II classes, alcohol therapy classes and radom breathilizer tests. I have completed everything with exception to the alcohol therapy classes, I have about 4 months of classes left and about a year or so of probation left. I am looking at taking a job in Australia and was wondering how this would all work out

In Colorado this arrangement is called a deferred judgment/sentence. It is an agreement between yourself and the DA with the approval of the court not to enter judgment pending successful completion of the terms of the agreement.

You might contact the court to determine whether the court/district attorney will agree to modification of the terms e.g., classes in Australia. Otherwise you might lose the benefit of the deferred.

if this was a deferred sentence, then if you do not complete the conditions, then the court will accept the guilty plea and enter conviction AND then re-sentence you on the DUI.

You could be stuck in jail - get the Alc Classes done or you will be sorry.
