Legal Question in DUI Law in Colorado

Dwai

My friend recently recieved a DWAI while driving home from the bar. He blew a .07 and was not aloud to drive home but was not formally arrested, had no bail and it was his first offense. I was wondering what the probable penalty would be and if a lawyer was necessary.

Re: Dwai

The penalty for DWAI is approximately 1 year of probation with alcohol classes, fines of about $8-900, 24-48 hours of community service and 8 points on your drivers license.

This will not automatically revoke your drivers license.

This BAC is relatively low. A good lawyer should be able to get a non-alcohol offense as a plea. This is much better in the long run, and may reduce the sentence to a fine only.

I do a lot of DUI work, please contact me. More general information at www.duiblog.com.

Re: Dwai

Up to 6 months jail and $500.00 fine. Court costs ($600) and community service along with probation. I would get an attorney to try to avoid an alcohol offense which may be possible. I have handled similar cases with success. I would be happy to help. Please call at your convenience.
