Legal Question in Civil Litigation in Colorado

I recently had my roof replaced ( shared flat roof). My neighbor now has a leak and is convinced that it it caused from the work I had done through roofing Co. He says he is "going after me" for damages. Can he sue me? Wouldn't the roofing co be liable for damages and isn't the burden of proof on my neighbor? Do I need to hire a lawyer?

As lawyers always answer, yes they can sue you. In court, the plaintiff has to prove their case by a preponderance of the evidence. That does not mean that they cannot sue you just based on their assumption that you, through your roofing company, are responsible.

Your question is whether he can win and who would ultimately be responsible for the claims. If you are served with a summons and complaint, contact an attorney. Your answer and defenses are critical. Moreover, you would need to claim against the roofing company and take other actions.
