What does it mean to be subpoenaed to testify at a deposition?

Being subpoenaed to testify at a deposition means that you are under a court order to appear and testify at the time and place indicated on the subpoena. Lawyers issue subpoenas (or get them issued by the Court) for witnesses who might have knowledge about a case. The fact that you may not have the knowledge they think you do, or your not wishing to be involved (if that is the case) does NOT excuse you from a subpoena.
