Legal Question in Immigration Law in Colorado

they don't want to work

I sponsored my brother and his family (wife and two children). They are now in the US and don't wont to work. The excuse is that they can't find suitable work. They have been staying with our relative in a different state. I offered them to come live in my state and to find them work and an appartment, but they don't wont to move here. If this continues much longer can I have their green cards revoked?

Thank you so much for taking your time to provide an answer.

Re: they don't want to work

The USCIS would revoke a green card based on fraud; that is, if they committed some kind of misrepresentation at the embassy and with the USCIS. When you sponsored them, did they represent that they would be staying with you; if they are not, and have not advised the USCIS, they are in violation of the immigration laws. Second, if they misrepresented to you that they would find jobs after their arrival, and refuse to work, there may be something to be said in that maybe they "tricked" you into sponsoring them. However, it was a long wait for your brother; did he not work before? Before you make an effort to revoke their "green cards," try to figure out what they mean by "suitable" work -- Otherwise, you are financially responsible under your agreement with the U.S. government on the I-864.
