Legal Question in Personal Injury in Colorado

My daughter accidentally hit a person on a bicycle late at night. She was charged with careless driving causing bodily injury. Should we contact an attorney before court?

Thank you for your inquiry. At this stage your daughter has only been charged with criminal conduct and, as a consequence, she is presumed innocent until actually determined to be guilty. She will have the right to defend herself in the Colorado Court. The prosecution has the obligation of attempting to prove her guilty beyond a reasonable doubt.

There is not much more specific advice I can provide given the general nature of your question, but with the circumstances that you describe, I would suggest that your daughter should prepare to defend herself in the legal system. She is entitled to have an attorney represent her and I would recommend that you consider that option of retaining defense counsel.
