Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Colorado

Double Rent

I recently moved out of an apartment before my lease expired, and paid the remaining rent balance, as I am obligated. It has come to my attention that the apartment was rented before my lease term expired - is this legal? (i.e., can the apartment collect ''double rent'' from the new occupant and from me, or am I entitled to some sort of refund?)

Re: Double Rent

Generally you are liable for rent until the lease expires. However, if the landlord sued you, he would not have damages for the month it was rented out.
