Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in Colorado

Executor's Fees & Taxes in Colorado?

What is the standard Executor's fee in the state of Colorado?

Also, if the value of the estate is less than $250,000, about how much will be owed in federal and state taxes? I was told that there is an additional 2% state tax in Colorado when the devisees live out-of-state.

Re: Executor's Fees & Taxes in Colorado?

Personal Representative's fees in Colorado are governed by a reasonableness standard. Such fees are generally determined on an hourly basis.

There is no inheritance or estate tax in the State of Colorado. A Colorado estate may owe federal estate taxes. Where the devisees live is irrelevant if the estate is a Colorado estate.

There are costs associated with estate administration in Colorado, but they are not on a percentage basis.
