Legal Question in Consumer Law in Connecticut

Airline Ticket Refund

On December 26th 2002 I made reservations for 2 Round-trip tickets. The tickets were fully refundable. The reason for traveling was to attend my father's burial on Dec 27th 2002. There was a delay on the flight due to crew tardy, so i decided not to board the plane and request a refund. Manager at the Airport said it was ok after reading the terms and regulations of the ticket (Fully refundable). Now its been almost a year and the Airline has only refunded me for one of the reservations which is equal to $819.00. they refunded this amount in July 17th of 2003. They did not refund any interests incurred on my credit card for this amount even after they said they would. $819.00 plus interest. I have called the airlines since Dec 27th 2002 regarding this and little information has been given to me. I've sent emails faxes. My credit card statements have also been faxed to them but they said they won't pay interests unless my credit card sends them a letter stating how much interests that amount has incurred in the past 10 months. However I contacted my credit card and they said they can't send letters with calculated interests rates on purchases. What should I do?.

Re: Airline Ticket Refund

You should have disputed the charges with your credit card company by providing a detailed explanation along with documentation. The credit card company has the ability to credit your account and the interest regardless of the airline's position.

However, the credit card company may have a deadline for disputing charges. You should contact the company and find out if you can still dispute the charges. If not, you may want to sue the airlines in small claims court. It costs $35.00 and you can handle it yourself.
