Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Connecticut

debt collections

I am in the process of filing bankruptcy. I am now having second thoughts and think debt consolidation may be better. However, my question is since one of my debts has already been to court and I was advised by my lawyer not to pay the scheduled payments, can the debt still be negotiated if I choose consolidation?

Re: debt collections

As long as the creditor of that debt agrees to work something out with you. In the alternative, you can pay what is owed up to date per the court order and then commence the payments pursuant to that order. I would think that a creditor would rather see the debt paid than to have the debt discharged in bankruptcy.
