Legal Question in DUI Law in Connecticut

Pretrial alcohol education program, charges get dismissed automatically?

On 7/4/07 I was charged with DUI. I was ordered by the court to complete the pretrial alcohol education program and to attend one victim impact panel. The court set a date 1 year ahead on which i was to have successfully completed both programs, and the charges would be dismissed. The date was set at 8/15/08 and the judge said that I would not have to come back to court on that day if I had completed the programs and handed in the certificates of completion to the bail commissioner office. I have completed both programs and the certificates have been filed with the bail commissioners office. I was wondering if the charges will automatically be dissmissed on 8/15/08, or do I or a lawyer have to file a motion or something before the charges get dismissed?

Re: Pretrial alcohol education program, charges get dismissed automatically?

As long as the court is aware that it has the certificates and you have completed the program the charges are automaticly dismissed. You may want to show up at court on your date regardless just to make sure that everything is set. 203.380.8189. - Max
