Legal Question in Family Law in Connecticut

Alimony

When my parents divorced, my father took a mortgage on his house to pay my mother. However he pays her monthly, the money was placed in a checking account that would fund this. She holds the title to the house until the payments are complete. My father is now trying to sell his house. What, if any, legal rights does my mother have? Does my father need to notify her about this?

Re: Alimony

I'd need lots more info. First, your father didn't take a mortgage, he gave one. To whom? A bank?. Your mother? Was all this spelled out in the divorce decree, or was this just an informal way your father chose to fund the alimony. You say your mother still has legal title to the house. How can this be if your father was able to mortgage it? You can call me to discuss.
