Legal Question in Immigration Law in Connecticut

L2 and Name change

Hi, I am currently in US on L1B and

I am getting married shortly in

India. I plan to return back to US

with my wife two weeks after the

marriage. The Visa dept of my

company told me that it is

necessary to include my name in

my wife's passport so that they

could apply for her L2 visa. May I

know if it is true? I do not have

that much time after marriage to

go round and round the passport

office to get the name changed.

Re: L2 and Name change

Your spouse can go to the consulate in India with proof of your L-1B status and your marriage certificate to obtain her visa. Once she enters the US in L status she can apply for employment authorization.
