Legal Question in Intellectual Property in Connecticut

email privacy issues

Hypothetical Situation:

email is forwarded electronically or printed and delivered to an individual, say ''the wife'' showing that her husband is having an affair. ''the mistress'' is the only other person in those email trails and is also the one responsible for ''ratting'' on the cheating husband. The emails prove beyond a doubt that ''the mistress'' was unaware her lover was married and that in fact, the man lied repeatedly up until the very end about his marital status. Given such a situation is there any law broken by the mistress revealing the emails. Are there any privacy issues concerned? Could the spouse who was ''ratted'' on try to sue the mistress for by claiming privacy rights to the email.

Re: email privacy issues

No. The husband has no legal standing to sue anyone and the emails are most likely admissible in any divorce action.
