Legal Question in Employment Law in Connecticut

If an employee went to lunch and forgot to punch his/her time clock, is it legal for Human Resource to access their time clock and punch for the employee while the employee is out to lunch?

As the records of time are being kept for business purposes and are being kept by the business I cannot think of a reason why human resources and agent of the business cannot rectify the employees failure to keep proper record.
