Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in Connecticut

mixed Utility Meters

I Live In a 4 unit apartment back in 10/05 we had new Meters put in by the electric company it wasn't untill last month after months of outrageous charges i checked to make sure the numbers matched on the bill and meter. Since 10/05 i have been paying another persons electric bill and they have been paying mine.UI says they will not do anything as far as a credit goes.the difference in charges has been about $70-90 per month. Is there anything that can be done about this?

Re: mixed Utility Meters

If they made a mistake and charged you for another person's utilities then you can claim damages for their mistake. Depending on the amount of your claim, you can either file a claim in small claims or civil court. In the meantime, you can have an attorney write a letter on your behalf describing the mistake.
