Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in Connecticut

I Want to Move Out

I signed a one year lease for my apartment(my first one) and want to move, my question is if i am held legally to pay rent if i give appropriate notice; and proceed to move out into a new place?

And if so for how long? My lease agreement says nothing in regards to this matter, and ''subleasing'' is prohibited by the landlord.

Thank you

Re: I Want to Move Out

Ypu are on the hook for the full term of the lease. However, If you move out early, the landlord is required to use "due dilligence" to re rent the unit asap. If he can get a new tenant in there, your obligation to pay rent ends at that time. Typically, tenants get stuck paying about two months extra after they move out. Good luck.
