Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Connecticut

My ex husband passed away last january. My daughters were 17 at the time. He owned a house which he had missed some mortgage payments. he had no will. it seemed like he owed more on the house than its worth. my daughters are his legal kin. are they in any way responsable for his debt. we walked away from the situation last year and i want to be assoured we did the right thing.

Unless they signed the note securing the mortgage, they are not liable for any of his debts.
