Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Connecticut

Substandard Housing?

I am interested in renting an apartment in Connecticut, but it does not have a refrigerator in it right now and the landlord does not have any intention of supplying one.

Are landlords in CT required to supply a refrigerator?

Re: Substandard Housing?

It depends on the wording of the lease. If the lease states that tenant will supply the refigerator, etc., then it is the tenant's responsibility. If, on the other hand the lease requires the landlord to supply same, and keep it in good repair, then the tenant would have the right to deduct the cost of any repairs/costs for a new unit, from the rent.
