Legal Question in Social Security Law in Connecticut

I am 64 year old and have terminal cancer. I have been advised that may have only 4-6 months to live. Doesn't seem like enough time to bother filling for S.S. disability. If I retire now and collect S.S., will I be entitled to Medicare. Also, wife is not working , would she be able to collect half of my benefit now. How long would she have to wait to get Medicare benefits. Neither of us will have medical benefits when I retire.
