Legal Question in Disability Law in District of Columbia

Unemployment in District of Columbia

I worked for a private company in

DC for over twenty years. Recently,

due to workplace harassment I

went on FMLA Leave for severe

depression and anxiety as diagnozed by two medical doctors.

After the 16 wks of FMLA Leave I

was told to either return to my

job, be fired or take retirement.

Since I was adviced by three medical doctors not to return to the

same job in order to recooperate

and that it would also hinder my

recovery. I decided to take

involuntary retirement in lieu of

being fired. Since I did not

leave voluntarily and that I

was forced out can I apply for

unemployment benefits in DC?

I understand that as long as my

doctor's stated in writing their

medical opinion that this should

be treated as though I had no

other choice but to leave

involuntarily.....What is your take

on this question?
