is it against the law for someone to

write to an internet list that he would

love to put a bullet into the head of

(redacted), a well-know public figure?

Usually you can get the post removed because it violates the terms of use of the site. A prosecutor would have to read the post to determine if it qualifies as a crime; your question isn't specific enough.
