My father, who lives in Washington, D.C., co-signed with my nephew on his student loan. My nephew has stopped attending classes and has not paid anything towards that debt. What can my father do and can the student loan company take my father's home?

If your father happens to hold title to his home with a spouse as "Tenants by the Entireties", the lender will not be able to take your father's property in payment of this debt as long as this spouse was not also a co-signer for this particular loan.
