being sued in civil court over credit card debt

i recently answered a summons denying a credit card debt. sincce then i have information that my information has been used by a family member and i (my name probably owes the debt). what steps do i take to correct this. should i contact the lawyer who represents the cc co.

Yes, you could contact the attorney representing the creditor and explain that they're apparently dealing with the wrong person with respect to who may be responsible for causing this particular debt.
