Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in District of Columbia

I was summoned to appear in court on judgment involving spouse and his business.

I was given a court order to personally appear and produce documents on a judgment involving a bank and XXX, INC. My spouse is the sole owner and stock holder of XXX, INC. I have never signed or witness any loan contracts. I am not, and never have been a partner in any business transaction or an officer of XXX INC.. Why am I being named in this judgment and can this bank hold me liable for a loan I never signed for? I have proof that all my resources came from my full time job.

Re: I was summoned to appear in court on judgment involving spouse and his busin

Whether they "can" get a judgment against you is irrelevant if they did get a judgment against you -- because you apparently failed to answer the complaint. It may be possible to get the judgment vacated, but you should retain counsel and act fast. Of course, it is possible (based on the language of your post) that the judgment is not against you. A judgment creditor can use court process to obtain information from anyone who may have it towards collecting the judgment. If so, just provide the requested information, or move to quash the process if it is abusive or otherwise improper. Again, see a lawyer.
