Legal Question in Criminal Law in District of Columbia

Petty Theft =First Offense 24 years old

My 24 yr. old daughter on a dare, shoplifted a pair of $79.00 pants and was apprehended, finger-printed and given a court date. This is her first offense. She just returned home from college. What should I do?

Have her consult with an experienced criminal defense attorney or contact the public defender's office.
