Legal Question in Employment Law in District of Columbia

class action suit

All parties Plaintiffs, Defense, their lawyers and our lawers have all agreed on the settlement 5 months ago. The judge refuses to sign off, it has been on her desk unsigned. Why would a judge do this?

Re: class action suit

The court's job here is not to just sign something that is put before it. Particularly in a class action, the court has the ability and duty to review the claim and the proposed settlement to determine independently whether it should be signed.
