Legal Question in Employment Law in District of Columbia

Docking pay

i recently quit my job. My former employeris claiming that they can withhold a portion of my pay because I did not fulfill some of the duties of the position in that last month. I was never aware, or made aware, that this is procedure. Is this legalto withhold pay after the fact.

Re: Docking pay

If you put in the time they're suppose to pay

you for it, unless you were working under a contract that specifically allows them to

withhold part of your pay because you allegedly

"did not fullfill some of the duties of the position."

However, if that's not the case and they owe

you for time on the job for which you've not been compensated, Small Claims Court is where you want to go to get your money. (You may also wish to file a complaint with the government agency responsible for labor and employment issues.)
