Legal Question in Real Estate Law in District of Columbia

notice of intent to sell house.

my friend wants desperately out of the contract of a house. He has owned this house for 30 years. He purchased this home with his GI loan. He was married at the time but his wife was not on the signing of the contract. The divorce decree stated that as a reslut of this divorce who ever lived in the house would be responsible for all notes. Even though she is in the house he wants no part of the contract anymore. Notice of intent to sell this house is what he needs. She refuses to answer any notices. Can he send a notice of intent to sell form to her? He wants her to buy him out of the contract We understand that she must agree but she refuses to answer any questions or calls and hides behind the blinds when someone comes to the door. All he wants is out of the contract. PLEASE help

Re: notice of intent to sell house.

Your friend would appear well advised to arrange for a consultation with an attorney who is knowledgeable and experienced in the Commonwealth's divorce as well as real property laws and who should be able to advise him as to an appropriate course of action to resolve this unhappy situation.

Correction: Third line of previous answer should read District of Columbia's rather than Commonwealth's.
